Eyewitness Describes Instant When 'Deranged Individual' Attacked Manchester Temple

A man involved in fortifying a house of prayer in northern Manchester has shared how a tragic incident unfolded, causing the loss of a pair of British Jews.

That Thursday, Alan Levy was present in the worship center when an attacker drove a vehicle toward and assaulted attendees assembling for a service to observe Yom Kippur.

He noted that the 'monster' individual attempted to break down the entrances of the synagogue, and he remembered barricading the structure with additional attendees.

The victims, in their 50s and 60s died in the violence on the morning, while additional persons were wounded while helping to safeguard others.

Survivor Description of the Incident

Mr Levy, who is a Chair of the Trustees at the house of worship, described holding the doors and stated that the attacker employed blades and garden containers to try to get in.

I witnessed a terrifying individual forcefully push in the front doors, seeking to force them open holding a sharp weapon," he told the media.

The sole statement I heard from him was 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

That was all I heard him say. We remained within the synagogue and we were repeating 'we are not letting this man in'.

He appeared as a deranged, evil monster."

Memorial Service Conducted for Deceased

The remarks coincided with a large gathering attended the funeral service for one of the victims.

Relatives, congregants from the synagogue group as well as the community rabbi, and participants of the wider Jewish community came together in Pendlebury, Salford to honor the deceased.

Mourners occupied the gravesite, with several waiting in the open the ceremony space in the downpour, listening to the service and eulogy over audio systems.

Through a statement issued on Friday, his relatives said that he would "do anything to help anyone".

Authorities Inquiry and Apprehensions

Greater Manchester Police indicated that Mr Daulby was likely struck by law enforcement rounds as they shot the attacker shortly after the emergency call.

Mr Daulby, who was recognized by his loved ones as a "courageous person", was participating in a ceremony at the house of worship when the incident occurred.

He remained a dear family member, caring relative to his four nieces and one nephew and a dear extended family member," his relatives noted.

Relatives are devastated by the sudden passing of a kind and humble individual.

His last actions showed immense heroism and he will forever be remembered for his courageous effort."

A number of apprehensions took place in relation to the violence, and police stated that four people were under arrest on Sunday morning.

Each of them were apprehended for commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

The suspects consist of several men, in their 30s and both arrested in Prestwich; a older woman detained locally; and a woman in her 40s apprehended elsewhere.

Other suspects were released with no further proceedings, authorities reported on Saturday.
