The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced disruption to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has escalated strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing protection systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.
